How This Show Works

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE PAGE before emailing us with questions.

The lottery sign up form is ALL THE WAY AT THE BOTTOM

Sign up starts on Friday at noon and ends on Monday at noon. We'll email you the cast lists Monday evening.

If you're not already a part of the email list you can sign up up above (this is how we send out our weekly invites and cast lists, I.E. you will not know if you made the cut if you're not on the email list.)

In summary

1. sign up for the email list above
2. wait for the email invite on Friday
3. read the invite and use the online sign up system
4. wait for the cast list email on Monday night
5. if you made the list show up at the right time and sign in

The Motel Mic System For Dummies:

How – Our shows are run on a lottery system. We send you an invite on Friday, you sign up (using the form below) for the show(s) you are interested in (sign up is between Fri noon and ends noon Mon) and we randomly select the cast for each show and email them to you Monday evening. Please read the details below. If you are not on the email list go to the top of the page and sign up for it (or else you won't get the invites and you won't know if you made the list or not).

Where and When
  • WedOchi's Lounge @ Comix, 353 West 14th Street (just east of 9th Ave.)
    • Early show 6:30 (Sign in starts at 6) to 8:30
    • Late show 9 (Sign in starts at 8:30) to 11

    Cost – $5 for the door donation none of which we keep. We give it all back at the end of each show: one half to the comic who brings the most people (never required, always truly appreciated), and one half to one lucky comic at random. Great comedy swag given away at each show as well (books, movies, CDs). There is also a 1 drink minimum, to help keep our friends at Ochi's in business.

    Booking Policy
    – At 10 minutes after the start of each show, your booked spot (poof!) turns into a standby spot.

    Standby Policy – If you don't make the list, come on down early and try for a standby spot. Cast sign-in and standby sign-up is 30 minutes before the start of each show. (Standby spots are first come, first served as time permits.) After you sign up come back and see the host 15 minutes after the show start time and they will probably be able to let you know if they have a spot for you.

    Cancellation Policy – If you find that you do have to cancel, please do it right away, so we can recycle your slot. People who don't write and don't show... bad karma all around (in addition to being kicked out of the lottery till we feel you've suffered enough). So don't be that person, OK?
